Camp Director Laurel Alford says, “ The importance of exposing children to live theatre is my personal soap box. In the public school system kids have the chance to play sports, sing, play musical instruments, learn academics... but they are not taught “performance” until they (might) take Drama in high school. Yet, every child is expected to KNOW HOW to perform every time they are asked to do an oral report, or participate in a school program. Public speaking is one of the biggest fears adults face, yet we can practically eliminate it by teaching acting at an early age.”

Newnan Theatre’s drama camps have been active for the last 8 years under the
direction of Laurel Alford.
